The 5 famous faces of Goodwood Festival of Speed

Each year, one of the most prestigious automotive events in the world occurs when 300,000 people descend upon the Goodwood estate in the UK for a weekend full of racing and entertainment. Held in June, Goodwood Festival of Speed (GFoS) features a wide range of racing past, present and future, including Formula 1, the British Touring Car Championship, the British Drift Championship and the Festival of Speed itself.

I was very lucky enough to be invited to the Festival of Speed in the UK. This is a very unique event that celebrates different types of motorsports every year. The Festival is held over the weekend of the 2nd to 4th of September at Goodwood House near Chichester in West Sussex, England. I was able to attend for the first time this year, and I was absolutely amazed to meet some of my favorite celebrities while I was there.

For 28 glorious years, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has been a delight for car enthusiasts, as it is home to the iconic hillclimb and home to Formula One and motorsport competitions. The festival rightly holds a special place in the hearts of visitors, and celebrities often make their appearance. The pandemic of the coronavirus prevented the Festival of Speed from taking place last year.

But by 2021, it will be one of many pilot projects in the Event Research Program, which runs until ’11. July is busy, and coming back, better than ever. Here are 5 familiar faces who have participated in the Festival of Speed in the past and helped make it the event it is today.

Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz

The iconic McLaren F1 duo, who have been racing together for two years, will visit fans at the 2019 festival. Norris and Sainz drove Bruce McLaren’s legendary M8D and showed off their raw driving skills on Goodwood’s famous hill, much to the delight of the fans. The two drivers have had memorable times together, but Carlos has joined a rival Ferrari team at the start of the 2021 season. Australian Daniel Ricciardo has taken his place at McLaren, while teammate Lando Norris completes the duo.

Sir Jackie Stewart

The former racing driver, who achieved success in the late 1960s and won three Formula One championships, visited the 2019 Festival of Speed. At the age of 80, he is known for his accomplishments in the world of motorsports, not only on the track, but also off the car. He called for more safety measures at Formula 1 races. After his near-fatal accident on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in 1966, he advocated the presence of reserve medical teams.

Jody Kidd

TV presenter, model and racing driver Jodie Kidd visited the festival in 2017. Along with legendary commentator Murry Walker, she helped launch the BMW brand and appeared at Goodwood as a friend of the brand, driving the futuristic, hybrid BMW i8 up the hill. Mr. Kidd has a collection of favorite cars, ranging from a Jaguar F-Type Coupe R to a 1970 Land Rover Defender.

Natalie Pinkham

The Sky Sports presenter may have an F1 fan’s dream job. Not only has she made friends with old and new drivers, but she also travels the world to report live from the Formula 1 circuit on the latest developments. Natalie attended the Festival of Speed in 2015 and helped set a new world record by piloting a two-wheeler alongside stuntman Terry Grant.

The TV presenter, radio DJ and car enthusiast is a familiar face at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. In 2011 Chris was a guest at a BBC Radio 2 event with the Magnificent Seven Ferraris as part of Children in Need.
