About.com Digital Cameras
Compared to most digital camera
manufacturers, General Imaging is a newcomer to the market. However, it hasn't
taken General Imaging long to carve out a niche as a manufacturer of very nice
low-priced cameras.
General Imaging, the digital
camera branch of GE, appears to have bolstered its niche with its announcement
of four digital cameras at CES.
A1255. The GE A1255 ($89.99 MSRP)
includes a 5X optical zoom lens and 12 megapixels of resolution.
A1455. Few cameras will be able to
match the GE A1455's combination of price ($99.99 MSRP) and resolution (14
megapixels).
E1480W. GE's E1480W ($149.99 MSRP)
can shoot HD video, offers 14 megapixels of resolution, and features an 8X
optical zoom lens.
E1486TW. The GE E1486TW ($179.99
MSRP) carries the same features as the E1480W, along with a touch screen LCD.
The GE A1250 was one of the
best low-priced cameras I had a chance to review in 2009. It appears GE may be on
track to continue succeeding in the low-priced camera market in 2010. Look for
these new GE models to be available this spring.
